Cave City School District  “Mask Advisory”
Covid-19 Precautions Policy

Purpose: The intent of the policy is to provide guidance for the Cave City School District “Mask
Advisory” regarding the use of Covid-19 precautions based on the prevalence of Covid-19 within the Cave City School District.


Source: Data to guide the parameters of the policy will be reviewed by the administrative team
utilizing https://achi.net/covid19/ as its primary data source. This guideline is subject to
adjustments based on guidelines received from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).


Standard Precautions: At all levels of risk, classrooms should continue to emphasize the use of
washing hands, barriers, Covid daily screening, fogging, physical distancing, and thorough
disinfecting of all facilities.


Who: All staff Pre K-12 and students of K-12
What: Wearing of mask if the “Risk Level” is Red or higher based on the website
https://achi.net/covid19/ for the Cave City School District.


Where: Masks at all Cave City School District indoor venues including transportation on buses
and when social distancing of 6 feet or more is not an option. Athletic activities and music
practice and competition are exempt from indoor masking: rigorous exercise in P.E. or recess
are exempt from indoor masking. Medical Exemptions will be considered on a case to case
basis with proper medical documentation.


When: The Cave City Schools Mask Advisory for indoor venues will be determined by “Risk
Levels” from the website https://achi.net/covid19/ for the Cave City School District. If the “Risk
Level” is ORANGE or lower, there will be no mask advisory declared for staff and students for
the indoor venues or transportation. Masks will be recommended during the “Risk Levels” of
ORANGE and YELLOW. The district superintendent will check the website weekly and adjust
district action based on ACHI Dashboard. The superintendent is also authorized to use local
information provided by the Point of Contact for the district if cases in the district are such, that
this data reflects a more accurate account of the current condition in the school. (ie- website’s
two-week average reflects ORANGE, but a high number of new cases in the school aren’t as of
yet reflected in the Dashboard data. The Cave City Board of Education may review this policy
as needed.
