Friends. Cave City Schools will be open beginning Wednesday with busses running all routes we can. We understand and support any parents who choose to keep their children home in an abundance of caution. We will be updating our Facebook page and sending additional texts to keep you informed. Tomorrow we will serve meals in our elementary cafeteria to students who can come in. We will also have meals available as “to go” for those choosing not to sit down. And a Google form will be linked on our facebook page for parents who need meals delivered. We will do our best to get them there. Please avoid our MS parking lot and enter at the center of our campus. Thank you! We remain Caveman Strong!

Good morning friends. Let me start by saying that we are thankful that Cave City had no loss of life. Our prayers continue for everyone affected and for our wonderful community as a whole. Our middle school gym will continue to serve as the central hub for relief and recovery. In regards to having school, we have to figure what the right balance is between staying out of the way of clean up and at the same time safely providing for our students and their families as we normally do. They need us to do what we do. But for now, we need to close school Monday and Tuesday to allow recovery to proceed with less interference. This will also give us at least a couple days to figure out how to manage our role at our middle school gym and how we'd manage that with students on campus. We will also consider the benefits of letting our student athletes having some normalcy by playing away games this week beginning Tuesday night. Senior Day at Maxville today has been postponed as well. We hope to be back in school on Wednesday. Thank you all. We continue to be Cave City Strong!

Friends. Forecast models currently have snow arriving in our district by 1:30 pm tomorrow. We will reevaluate the hour by hour forecast before 6 am tomorrow for a possible dismissal if the forecast changes. At this time, please plan on an early dismissal at noon tomorrow. This will allow us to serve breakfast and lunch to our students attending tomorrow. If an early dismissal creates a hardship or if you would prefer to keep your student home we certainly understand. If you receive no further updates by 6 am, please plan on a noon dismissal tomorrow. Thank you for your support and understanding.

Our area is currently under a winter weather warning for tomorrow. Current projections have the likelihood of heavy snow beginning at 3:00 pm with light snow possible earlier. We will continue to monitor the projections and try to give parents as much notice as possible regarding any early dismissal or even possibly canceling for tomorrow. As always, we respect and support your decision to keep your child home in abundance of caution or if arrangements for an early dismissal create a hardship. We will make every effort to have school and feed our kids tomorrow, but the safety of our students and staff is our top priority. We thank you for your understanding and support.

Due to excessive rain and flooding conditions there are a few changes to some of our bus routes this afternoon. We will update our Facebook page with that information. Some students may arrive later than usual due to detours around low water crossings as well. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

In an effort to protect the health of our students, staff, and community, we temporarily advise parents to keep sick students home until they have been fever free and symptom free for 48 hours. Previously that number was 24 hours. This cautionary change comes as a result of the recent rise in illnesses on our campuses. Please contact your child’s campus Nurse with any questions/concerns. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. This measure is only temporary.

There are still a few roads in our district that are unsafe for bus travel so we will continue to use driver discretion for Thursday bus routes. Mr. Wilson has updated the road listing on our District Facebook page. We appreciate your support and thank you for your patience and understanding during this process.

Friends. Our plan was to transition back to full bus routes sooner than later but many of our gravel and side roads are still unsafe. Our bus drivers will again use driver discretion on Wednesday routes. The CCSD Facebook page will continue to be updated with the list of roads that we will not travel. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding as we focus on student and employee safety above all else. We respect the right of any parent to keep their student home if they deem their road unsafe. We also ask that parents bringing their student to school also plan on picking them up if a bus didn’t come by in the morning. Thank you for your continued support.

Cave City schools will be in session on Tuesday, January 14. Our drivers will run their routes based on their individual discretion. Drivers will let our route supervisor know as soon as possible what portions of their route they can’t travel so we can post this to our Facebook page for you. We will try to update it hourly as we receive information. As stated before, we respect the right of any parent to keep their student home if they deem their road unsafe. We also ask that parents bringing their student to school also plan on picking them up if a bus didn’t come by in the morning. Thank you for your understanding and your support.

Friends. Due to conditions on our dirt roads and some side roads, there will be no school at Cave City on Monday. We will make up tomorrow by attending on March 14. It is likely that we will have school on Tuesday using bus driver discretion. Mr Wilson will use our Facebook page to post what bus routes will be impacted on Tuesday. Also, we respect any parent/guardian’s right to keep their student home on Tuesday in an abundance of caution if your road is questionable. We appreciate your understanding as we focus on student and employee safety above all else. Thank you for your continued support.

Cave City schools will be closed tomorrow due to weather moving in tonight. We will make this day up by attending on Presidents' Day February 17th. We have also canceled our home basketball games scheduled tonight against Flippin. Those games have been rescheduled for January 27th at 5:00. We do plan on staying all day today, but we have canceled all after school activities in an abundance of caution. We hope that everyone has a safe weekend and hope to be back in school as soon as possible next week.

Friends. We look very forward to a safe and productive 2025. It's that time of year where the weather becomes unpredictable sometimes. As in the past, we will make every effort to let you know as soon as possible when our school will be closed or delayed due to weather. We continue to use our text system, facebook page, local radio, and KAIT. If a decision can't be made by 10:00 pm, we will try to notify you by 6 am on the day of concern. We no longer have AMI days, so our snow days are already established on our school calendar as make up days. Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding as we prioritize student safety. And as always, we gladly support parents who decide to keep students home in an abundance of caution. Thank you so very much for your continued support!
